UVA Continues Lead Towards Team Title on Night Three of 2018 Women’s ACC’s
With the race for the 2018 women’s Atlantic Coast Conference team title becoming closer as the meet goes on, the action in Greensboro becomes more intense. NC State’s Elise Haan attempts to bring her Wolfpack into the battle for the team title while UVA and Louisville continue to duke it out for first and second in the point standings.

Women’s 100 Fly
In the C final, UNC’s Susanna Larochelle touched first in 53.50 while her teammate Emma Cole was just .01 behind in 53.51. Georgia Tech’s Laura Branton (53.83) took third.
FSU’s Elise Olsen took the B final in 52.37 while ND’s Erin Sheenhan (52.57) and Duke’s Alyssa Marsh (52.79) followed in second and third.
Taking the A final was Louisville’s Grace Oglesby in 51.11. Duke’s Leah Goldman (51.46) touched in second while Tayla Lovemore out of FSU touched third with a time of 51.85. Taking fourth and fifth was Duke’s Kulie Jordan (52.61) and UVA’s Anna Peng (52.63) while Virginia Tech’s Maggie Gruber (52.64) and Louisville’s Nastja Govesjek (52.72) placed sixth and seventh. Krista Duffiled took eighth in 53.00

Women’s 400 IM
The C final was taken by FSU’s Meg Brown in 4:14.60 while NC State’s Jessica Horomanski touched first in the B final with her 4:09.60.
Virginia Tech’s Reka Gyrogy nabbed a win for the Hokies with her 4:04.42 while NC State’s Hannah Moore swam to a second place finish with her 4:06.62. Louisville’s Rachael Bradford-Feldman took third in 4:08.14. NC State’s Kate Moore (4:09.18) took fourth while Duke’s Lizzie Devitt (4:09.58), NC State’s Julia Poole (4:10.08) and UVA’s Erin Earley (4:12.08) followed behind. Rounding out the A final was UVA’s Rachel Politi in a 4:14.62.

Adriana Grabski took the C final here in a 1:46.53. UVA’s Paige Madden nabbed a win in a 1:44.00.
Taking the A final for Louisville was Mallory Comerford who swam a 1:42.17. UVA’s duo of Meghan Moroney (1:43.60) and Eryn Eddy (1:44.10) took second and third. Another duo of Virginia Cavaliers took fourth and fifth, that was Jen Marrkand (1:44.36) Kyla Valls (1:44.56). UNC’s Zhada Fields touched in 1:44.70 while ND’s Abigail Dolan swam a 1:44.90 for seventh. Laine Reed rounded out the A final with her 1:45.66.

Duke’s Susan Hynes touched first in the C final with her 1:01.34.
NC State’s Anna Shumate nabbed a win for the Wolfpack in the B final with her 1:00.70.
Taking the A final was FSU’s Natalie Pierce who swam a 59.71 with Pitt’s Lina Rathsack just .01 behind in 59.72. UNC’s Caroline Hauder swam a 59.81 to take third. Nabbing fourth was UNC’s Brooke Perrotta (1:00.11) with VT’s Joelle Vereb (1:00.49), Louisville’s Morgan Friesen (1:00.56) and Mariia Astashkina (1:00.73) following behind. ND’s Meaghan O’Donnell took eighth in a 1:01.09.

NC State’s Elise Haan took the women’s 100 backstroke in a 50.75 with UNC’s Caroline Baldwin about a second behind in 51.58. UVA’s Megan Moroney took third in 52.17. The University of Miami Hurricanes put two divers on the podium tonight with a freshman taking the top spot. Alicia Blagg took first with a score of 402.90 while her senior teammate Wally Layland (333.75) took second. FSU’s Molly Carlson took third with her score of 330.95.

Two teams earned themselves NCAA A cuts and among those were Louisville (3:30.66) and NC State (3:31.92), who placed first and second respectively. Third place went to FSU who produced an NCAA B cut time of 3:32.80.
