UVA Adds Two In-State Verbals For Class of 2023: Maddie Donohoe and Lexi Cuomo
NEW COMMITS: High school juniors Maddie Donohoe and Lexi Cuomo have both announced their verbal commitments to the University of Virginia’s Class of 2023. Todd DeSorbo‘s recruiting efforts in Virginia are rolling along as National Age Group record holder Kate Douglass has also joined this in-state duo.
Maddie Donohoe
Donohoe hails from Arlington where she is a junior at Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School. The distance specialist does her club training with The Fish. She’s also a National Junior Team member.
Her best times are:
- 1650 Free 16:01.60
- 1000 Free 9:37.78
- 500 Free 4:44.27
- 200 Free 1:47.75
That mile time would have been good for fourth at this season’s ACC Championships. Donohoe also would have been a 500 freestyle B finalist.

Lexi Cuomo
Cuomo should be a key sprint piece for the Cavaliers, helping create a well balanced in-state recruiting class. She swims for Mason Makos Swim Team and is a junior at Centreville High School. At last week’s Virginia Class 6 State Championships, Cumoo was runner up in both sprint freestyle events, and swam on the school’s winning 200 freestyle relay.
Her top times include:
- 50 Free 22.99
- 100 Free 49.71
- 100 Fly 52.89
- 100 Back 54.18
That 100 butterfly time would have been good for a B final swim at this month’s ACC Championships.
“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at UVA!! I’m so thankful for the support of my family, coaches, and friends in getting me here and I can’t wait to be a cavalier #wahoowa”
Congrats, Maddie and Lexi!
