SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, September 27. IT was all laughs and smiles today, as the University of Utah swimming and diving team welcomed former student-athletes to compete in the annual Alumni meet.
“It was great [today],” said Utah head coach Joe Dykstra. “This is not your traditional meet by any sense of the word, but the alumni here had a great time, cheating as much as they wanted. The most important thing today was that we connected with our past.”
“We had people here from many decades of Utah swimming and diving history,” Dykstra continued. “They had a great time interacting with one another and interacting with the current team. I liked to see that everyone was having a lot of fun and being really competitive and celebrating what Utah swimming and diving is all about.”
The alumni meet consisted of former Ute swimmer and divers competing against the current Ute team. Many alumni went head to head with the current swimmers.
Divers also took their turn in the pool as they competed in the 100-yard individual medley against one another.
The Utes take the road next week as they head to Grand Junction, Colo. to compete in the Intermountain Shootout. The meet will be hosted by Colorado Mesa.

So, who was there? I’d love to have made it, but couldn’t swing it from so many hundred miles away. How about a results sheet? Attendance sheet? More info/stories from the day?
