Utah Sweeps UCLA, UC Santa Barbara in Home Tri

The Utah women’s swim and diving team defeated UCLA and UC Santa Barbara at home on Saturday.

On the women’s side, Utah beat UCLA 158-142. UCLA beat UC Santa Barbara 185-193.

Utah’s Chloe Thompson won the 1000 freestyle in 10:30.91 and 500 free (5:06.15). Erin Palmer won the 50 free in 23.09 and 100 free in 51.14.

Palmer, Emma Lemler, Isabella Riso and Norah Hay won the 200 free relay in 1:32.75.

Utah’s Holly Waxman won 1-meter diving with 292.45 points.

UCLA’s Fay Lustria, Eva Carlson, Emma Harvey and Ana Jih-Schiff won the 200 medley relay in 1:40.64. Carlson won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.28). Rosie Murphy won the 100 backstroke (56.28), 200 IM (2:04.20) and 200 backstroke (1:59.98). Jih-Schiff won the 200 breast (2:15.31). Eden Chang won 3-meter diving with 302.70 points.

UC Santa Barbara’s Samantha Banos won the 200 free in 1:51.62, 100 butterfly (55.71) and 200 butterfly in 2:03.76.

The Utah men also defeated UC Santa Barbara.

Utah’s Owen Carlsen won the 1000 free in 9:35.18. Nick Chirafisi won the 200 free in 1:39.49 and 500 free in 4:34.00. Daniel Yi won the 100 breast (55.92). Evan VanBrocklin won the 200 fly in 1:49.71. and 100 free in 44.91. Brandon Miller won the 200 back (1:49.53).

Layton Sealman, Marshall Odom, Davis Stachelek and VanBrocklin won the 200 free relay (1:22.14). Stachelek won the 50 free in 21.05. Odom won the 100 butterfly (49.98).

The UC Santa Barbara men won the 200 medley relay with Matt Driscoll, Kyle Brill, Justin Wong and Zachary Tamusaitis getting to the wall in 1:30.98.

Driscoll won the 100 backstroke in 49.68. Brill won the 200 breaststroke (2:03.48) and 200 IM (1:50.90).
