The most notable scratch from tomorrow morning is Michael Phelps from the 200 freestyle. Many had assumed he would at least compete in prelims to attempt to earn a spot on the United States’ 800 freestyle relay. Instead, his 2016 Trials debut will be in the 200 butterfly.
Three other top 16 seeds also scratched from tomorrow morning’s five events.
Jack Conger of the University of Texas has scratched from his sixth seed in the 100 backstroke. Instead, he will only swim the 200 freestyle.
After qualifying for Rio in tonight’s 400 IM, Elizabeth Beisel has scratched the 400 freestyle. She was seeded seventh. Ninth seed Hali Flickinger also scratched the event.

Is NBC sexist ! Show minimal coverage of Women’s 2 Free Semis + NONE, yes Nada, of the Women’s 2 IM Semis – but we get to see Michael’s mom – we don’t care about her; she doesn’t swim – a gross disservice to the athletes in both Women’s 200 events tonite – shame on NBC
