USA Swimming Stats Dropping Knowledge About NCAA Division I Women’s Championship Field
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, March 6. LESS than 24 hours since releasing the official field for the NCAA Division I Women’s Championships taking place later this month from March 20-22, USA Swimming’s stats department has been busy releasing some awesome nuggets of information analyzing the field on their Twitter account @USASwimStats.
While most analysis regarding NCAAs focuses more on the collegiate-specific angles, USA Swimming has their eyes on a few different ways to look at the field.
The first Tweet shows the times it took to get invited into each event for the past seven years. Spoiler Alert: The meet is WAY faster than it used to be.

USA Swimming also looked into the demographics of the coaching class for this year’s field with a look at age and gender. In terms of gender, women are definitely statistically seen as under-represented as the head coach of a collegiate team with just 17 of the 123 schools employing women as the head coach.
The average age of the head coach of 123 school that enter the women’s NCAA division 1 champs(46.8) range: 28 to 67, 16 were 60+ years old.

USA Swimming also looked into the international influence at the meet with 151 international swimmers representing 43 countries as part of the field.

And in its most recent tweet, USA Swimming’s stats department shows that 23 different USA Swimming Clubs have produced a top-seeded qualifier in this year’s field.
