Ryan Held will make his Olympic debut as a member of the 400 freestyle relay.
The NC State swimmer recounted Rowdy Gaines‘ commentary before his races at Trials, where he was considered a no-name. Despite this, Held posted three lifetime best times in the 100 freestyle to make his way onto the team. Held is hoping to make a name for himself on his first National Team.
He also talked about how he dropped contact sports to turn his full attention to swimming and shared his love to race, which has been enhanced by the intensity of NC State’s practices.
