Leah Smith was runner up in the 400 and 800 freestyles in Omaha to qualify for her first Olympic team. She heads to Rio with the second and third fastest times in the world this year in those events.
In the USA Swimming video announcing her as a member of the Olympic squad, Smith reveals that extraordinary athletic success runs in her blood. Her father and five of his six siblings were all NCAA Division I athletes, making it no surprise that the rising senior has had a successful career at the University of Virginia.
