University of Georgia’s rookie Olympian Gunnar Bentz was introduced in this USA Swimming video.
The 20 year old admits that he went sky diving, but his coach Jack Bauerle does not know (yet!).
He reflected on how helpful last summer’s PanAmerican experience will be to his Olympic performance. Bentz also shares his excitement about seeing other athletes, like the basketball team, in the Olympic village. While he does not view his own teammates “as gods,” he recognizes that the public and other athletes do see them this way.
Bentz will swim the 800 freestyle relay in Rio, after finishing fifth in the 200 freestyle at Trials.
