David Plummer qualified for his first Olympic team at the age of 30.
The father of two spoke about his decision to continue swimming in the USA Swimming video introducing him as a member of the Olympic Team. While he intended to retire in 2008, he stayed in the water. After coming up just shy of making the team again in 2012, Plummer was still unable to give up the dream.
This year, Plummer clinched his place in Rio with a second place finish in the 100 backstroke.
He also talked about how the high standards his brother placed on him made him into a successful, driven swimmer.
