Abbey Weitzeil will make her Olympic debut after winning the 50 and 100 freestyles at Olympic Trials. At Trials this summer, she learned how to channel the meet’s energy into success, something she explained she did not know how to do in 2012.
The incoming Cal freshman spoke about how she quit swimming when she was younger because she simply did not like going to practice. Despite getting a later start in the sport, the 19 year old is a World Championships relay bronze medalist and short course American record holder.
