USA Swimming Holds Virtual Town Hall Meeting; Offers Info & Answers Questions
Earlier this week, USA Swimming leadership hosted a virtual “Town Hall” meeting with USA Swimming Board of Directors Chair Bob Vincent, President & CEO Tim Hinchey, Chief Operating Officer Mike Unger, Managing Director of Sport Development Joel Shinofield and Chief Commercial Officer Shana Ferguson.
The group did a Q&A session, answering frequently asked questions about the future of USA Swimming, such as ‘how will they handle the attrition rate after this recession?’ and ‘will there be any changes to USA Swimming membership moving forward?’
They also sent out a list of guidelines to its member institutions if they are to return to the pool. Each team has to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines and follow their local, state and federal officials instructions. They also sent out a list of national-level meets for next season leading up to the 2021 Olympic Trials, and also outlined a list of regional meets that can be held at the end of the summer if it is deemed safe so teams don’t have to travel as far. USA Swimming has also decided not to set new time standards for the 2021 Olympic Trials, given the extra year of preparation now for the event.
