USA Swimming Elects Caitlin Leverenz Smith to Board; Re-Elects Katie Meili

USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States, has announced the election of Caitlin Leverenz Smith and the re-election of Katie Meili to its Board of Directors. The organization’s eligible athlete members elected these Directors to four-year terms to not only the Board, but also the Team USA Athletes’ Commission and USA Swimming’s Athletes’ Advisory Council.

Katie Meili is a two-time Olympic medalist who graduated from Columbia University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a concentration in Art History. Meili also graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2020 and clerked for the Honorable Catharina Haynes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Meili is an associate at the law firm Jones Day in Dallas, TX. She previously served on the USA Swimming Board from 2020-2024, as well as acts as Chair of the USA Swimming Ethics Committee since 2022 and participates on multiple Task Forces – including the current National Team Director Search Task Force.

Caitlin Leverenz Smith is a 2012 Olympic medalist who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health. Leverenz Smith also graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2021 with a Master of Business Administration. Leverenz Smith is currently a consultant for Kaiser Permanente and resides in San Diego, CA. She has served as the Chair of the USA Swimming Athletes’ Advisory Council since its inception in 2021 and has been a member of the National Team Steering Committee and the Athletes’ Executive Committee. Leverenz Smith is currently serving as a member of USA Swimming’s CEO Search Task Force.
