USA Swimming completed its annual business meeting this week at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The governing body of the sport in the U.S. discussed numerous issues and had a board election.

USA Swimming CEO Tim Hinchey addressed the meeting in a video released on YouTube.

“What a year it has been for athletes competing throughout the United States and in numerous international venues. I was fortunate to see some the best of the world swim this year and am still in awe of our athletes representing us so well,” Hinchey said. “This week we welcomed more than 100 leaders of our great sport to the … Olympic Training Center for our annual business meeting. We had honest, positive and challenging conversations this week. We push ourselves to be better because the athletes deserve that from us.”

USA Swimming Board Chair Chris Brearton also addressed the meeting in the video.

“We had key leaders giving their time. We discussed legislation and had incredible collaboration. I was encouraged to see the high level of engagement from the athletes,” Brearton said. “I was blown away by the dedication to our sport.”

That dedication leads the sport into the 2024 Olympic year.

“We are now at the apex of our quad cycle and ready to turn the corner on 2024 and prepare to send the best of the best to Paris,” Hinchey said. “I am beyond excited about the Olympic Trials coming to Indianapolis this June – the first swim meet ever held in an NFL stadium, the fastest meet in the world, and the largest crowd in history, we hope. I am so grateful for the opportunities we have moving forward. We stand ready to support our athletes in and out of the pool.”

More details from the meeting will be reported once available.
