USA Swimming Announces Support Staff, Physicians for 2024 Olympics

USA Swimming on Monday revealed the support staff for the American swim team at the 22024 Olympics in Paris.

The pool team will be accompanied by physicians Katie Edenfield and Brian Krabak. Carrie Belleson is the team chiropractor, while Megan Kerstetter, Bryan Fong and John Janosko are the message therapists. Adriana Quirke will serve as the team manager.

For the open water squad, Andy Gerken will be the team physician, with Julie Gorman serving as a physical therapist.

Edenfield is a former swimmer at the University of Florida, where she serves as the athletic department’s team physician. She filled this role for USA Swimming at the 2017 World Junior Championships, the 2019 Pan American Games and the 2022 and 2023 World Aquatics Championships.

Krabak was on both of those latter staffs, as well as with Team USA at the 2019 World University Games. He works at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

In addition to Krabak and Edenfield, both Belleson and the message therapy trio were together as a team at the 2022 Budapest and 2023 Fukuoka Worlds. So was Quirke, responsible for the team’s day-to-day logistics. She also worked at the 2019 World Junior Championships.

“We are incredibly lucky to have such a decorated and personable group of individuals on our staff for Paris,” USA Swimming National Team Managing Director Lindsay Mintenko said in a press release. “This group has been with us on numerous trips over the past few years and has helped our athletes maintain peak performance. I would like to thank them for their valuable time and effort behind the scenes that assist our team in becoming the best.”

Gerken swam at Ohio State and is a practicing physician in northern Ohio. Gorman was a nine-time national championship swimmer at the University of Florida (who finished third at Olympic Trials in 1992 to narrowly miss the Barcelona Games). Both Gerken and Gorman served Team USA in the same capacities at both the 2022 and 2023 World Aquatics Championships.
