US Olympic Trials: Molly Hannis Reinstated Into 100 Breast Final After Semi Final DQ Overturned (HEAT SHEETS)
Molly Hannis’ disqualification from last night’s 100 breaststroke semi finals has been overturned and she will race in tonight’s final in lane seven. The final will be held with nine total swimmers after eighth place Kaitlyn Dobler was guaranteed a spot in tonight’s final after Hannis’ disqualification last night. Dobler will swim in lane 0 in the unique final. Hannis was originally disqualified last night for “a dolphin kick violation” and her DQ was overturned via video review.
The finals of the men’s and women’s 100 back, and the men’s 200 freestyle will be held on Tuesday night in addition to the women’s 100 breast final. The session will begin at 7:07 p.m. EST and will be streamed on NBC and NBCOlympics.com.
Reigning Olympic gold medalists and world record holders Lilly King and Ryan Murphy will be in action in finals tonight in the 100 breast and 100 back in their pursuit of repeat gold in Tokyo. Former world record holder Regan Smith will look to make her first team as she is the top seed in the 100 back ahead of 2019 Worlds bronze medalist Olivia Smoliga.
The first relay spots will be handed out tonight with the men’s 200 free final as Kieran Smith is looking to make his second event after winning the 400 free on Sunday. Following him are the four men that were on the bronze medal winning 4×200 free relay at the 2019 Worlds in Zach Apple, Townley Haas, Blake Pieroni and Andrew Seliskar.
