Upper Arlington’s Hunter Dean Selects Catholic University
NEW COMMIT: Freestyler and butterflyer Hunter Dean of Upper Arlington, Ohio, has announced his commitment to Catholic University and will arrive in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2020.
Dean swims year-round with Upper Arlington Swim Club and placed sixth in the 200m fly this past summer at Ohio LCM Seniors where he also recorded a trio of best times. Last winter, he took seventh in the 500 free at the Ned Reeb Invite before going on to register five top-15 finishes at the MAKO Senior Circuit. Also competing for Upper Arlington High School, Dean is a four-time finalist at the District Championships, most recently placing 10th in the 500 free during his junior season.
He told Swimming World:
“I chose Catholic because they have a strong political science degree, a great swim program and it’s in city I love! Go Cards!”
His best times include:
- 500 free – 4:45.27
- 1650 free – 16:37.59
- 100 fly – 53.92
- 200 fly – 1:57.33
Dean will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Cardinals as a member of the class of 2024 as his best times already rank near the top of their lineup. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 fly and 500 free as well as placed second in the mile at the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships where Catholic earned the team title.
