Andrew Kibbe has committed to swim for New York University beginning next fall. The Upper Arlington High School senior swims for Upper Arlington Swim Club in Columbus, Ohio.
Kibbe said of his decision,
“I’ve always felt a deep connection to the city of New York. However It wasn’t until I visited the campus as a prospective student that I realized New York University was the perfect match for me as an athlete, scholar, and individual! I have no doubt that NYU’s incredible location and program will shape me into the best person I may become.”
His best (SCY) times are:
- 500 Free 4:36.17
- 1650 Free 16:11.79
- 100 Back 53.48
- 200 IM 1:54.46
- 400 IM 4:06.46
NYU swims in the UAA. At last year’s conference championship Kibbe would have snuck into the 500 freestyle A final. The Violets had two scoring swimmers in that event. Daryl Wang (4:37.96) will be a junior when Kibbe arrives on campus next fall. He would also be a 400 IM B finalist, an event in which he has last year’s NCAA Division III B cut. In the 1650 Kibbe also would have finished under the B cut time. His best effort would have led the way for NYU while securing 12th place points. Freshmen Matthew Lyn and Wang also scored in the event and should combine with Kibbe for a great distance training group for two years.
