Canadian breaststroker Emily Vandenberg has given her verbal commitment to the University of Denver. Vandenberg is a senior at Ajax High School in Ajax, Ontario and swims for Scarborough Swim Club.
Her best times are (LCM/SCY conversion):
- 50 Breaststroke: 33.24/ 29.15
- 100 Breaststroke: 1:12.56/ 1:03.85
- 200 Breaststroke: 2:39.73/ 2:21.84
- 50 Freestyle: 27.77/ 24.46
- 400 IM: 5:09.61/ 4:31.21
All of her long course bests are recent, swum at the ASA Summer Championships in early August. She also added lifetime bests in 11 other events last season.
Vandenberg will be a help to the the reigning Summit League Conference champions. Her converted 100 breaststroke time would have finished third in the conference. Amanda Sanders (1:00.69) led the Lynx’s breaststroke group which also included Maddie Eyolfson (1:03.92). In the 200 breaststroke, Vandenberg would have rounded out the A final. Denver took the top three spots in that event, adding Bailey Andison to the mix.
