Mary Soule has given her verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Soule is an in-state talent, swimming with the Asheville Swim Club.
Soule’s best events are butterfly and IM and she is already an expected conference scorer for the Tarheels.
Her best times are:
100/200 butterfly: 55.37/1:59.37
200/400 IM: 2:05.00/4:15.64
Soule has dropped six seconds from her 400 IM since 2014. Her 100 butterfly has also come down by a full second during that time.
The Tarheels finished third at last year’s ACC Championships, just 102 points behind in state rivals NC State, making Soule a big in-state pick up as the two schools battle for home grown talent.
She would have finished 12th in the 400 IM last February. Carolina had two seniors in the A final and a junior finish 11th. Of the swimmers who will be on campus when Soule arrives in Chapel Hill, she will likely be the fastest in her best event. She would also be a B finalist in the 200 butterfly.
