UCLA Bruins Pick Up First 2023 Verbal from U.S. Open Qualifier Elena Dry
NEW COMMIT: The University of California, Los Angeles has received their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2023 from U.S. Open qualifier Elena Dry of Raleigh, North Carolina.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at UCLA!! Thank you to all of the friends, family, and coaches who helped to get me here. I can’t wait to join this amazing group of women in 2023! Go bruins!!!”
Primarily a butterflyer, Dry does her club swimming with TAC Titans and raced four events at Huntsville Futures this past summer after finaling in the 100m fly at Greensboro Sectionals. Back in March, she flew to fifth in the 100 fly at Cary Sectionals where she also finaled in three other events.
She also owns several North Carolina state records and has been a part of National Age Group relay records.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 54.55
- 200 fly – 2:04.59
- 200 IM – 2:03.32
- 400 IM – 4:23.78
- 50 free – 23.51
- 100 free – 51.55
Also competing for Broughton High School, Dry is already a four-time individual North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. She placed second in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking 11th and 12th, respectively, in those events as a freshman.
She is also a five-time NISCA All-American and has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
