UCLA Adds Catherine Andrews To Class of 2024
NEW COMMIT: Seattle, Washington native and Junior National qualifier Catherine Andrews has announced her verbal commitment to UCLA. She will arrive on campus in Fall 2024.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue swimming and studying at the University of California, Los Angeles! I want to take this time to thank my teammates, coaches, friends, and family for helping me through this process. A special thank you to everyone at UCLA for welcoming me into the family. GO BRUINS!!”
Andrews trains year-round with Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club and most recently placed 14th in the 100m back at Junior Nationals after sweeping both backstroke events at the PN Senior Championships.
In June, she raced to seventh in the 100m back and ninth in the 200m back at the Mel Zajac Junior International meet.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 53.76
- 200 back – 1:57.04
- 50 free – 23.82
- 100 free – 50.73
- 200 free – 1:51.92
Now a senior at Roosevelt High School, Andrews was the runner-up in the 100 back and sprinted to sixth in the 50 free at the 2022 Washington 3A State Championships. She earned bronze in both the 100 fly and 100 back as a sophomore.
Andrews is a great pickup for the Bruins, as her top times in the 100 back and 200 back would’ve scored in the B-final at the 2023 Pac-12 Championships.
