UC San Diego Scores In-State Verbal from San Clemente’s Andrew Bowman

NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Andrew Bowman of Oceanside, Calif. has opted to remain in-state for his college career and has announced his verbal commitment to UC San Diego beginning in the fall of 2020.

Bowman, who does his club swimming with San Clemente Aquatics, won the 100m free with four additional top-8 finishes at the MVN Junior Olympics this past summer after recording a pair of best times at Santa Clarita Sectionals. Last winter, he won the 100 fly at the SBCA Age Group Championships before going on to race five events at Carlsbad Sectionals. A current senior at Oceanside High School, Bowman raced the 100 fly at the CIF State Championships during his junior season. He also earned bronze in the 100 free and took fourth in the 50 free during his sophomore season at the CIF San Diego Section 1 meet.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 50.41
  • 200 IM – 1:58.49
  • 50 free – 21.57
  • 100 free – 46.73
  • 100m fly – 57.60 (LCM)
  • 50m free – 24.83 (LCM)
