UC-San Diego Lands 2021 In-State Verbal from Crow Canyon’s Lexi DePaco
NEW COMMIT: Danville, Calif. native Alexis “Lexi” DePaco has recently announced her in-state verbal commitment to the University of California, San Diego beginning in the fall of 2021.
Primarily a butterflyer and IMer, DePaco does her club swimming with Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks and owns four Junior National standards. This past summer, she earned bronze in the 100m fly at Santa Clarita Sectionals and collected three gold medals at Far Westerns last April.
A current junior at San Ramon Valley High School, DePaco is a four-time CIF State Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished eighth in the 100 fly and 12th in the 50 free as a sophomore while taking 12th and 14th, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCSD! I would like to thank my family, coaches and teammates for their constant support and encouragement. GO TRITONS!! I chose UCSD for its focus on both athletic and academic success. The swim team coaches have created a challenging and supportive environment that will help me thrive in and out of the water! “
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 54.51
- 200 fly – 2:00.88
- 200 IM – 2:02.38
- 400 IM – 4:22.16
- 50 free – 23.45
Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Tritons as a member of the class of 2025, DePaco will make an immediate impact. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM at the 2019 MPSF Championships where UCSD finished third overall in the team standings.
