U.S. Open Qualifier Zack Kusch Set To Join Northwestern In 2026
NEW COMMIT: Northwestern University has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2026-27 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Zack Kusch out of Green Brook, New Jersey.
He told Swimming World:
“I am incredibly excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University. I’m deeply grateful to my family, coaches, and teammates for their unwavering support in helping me reach this moment. I would also like to thank Coach Rachel, Coach Steve, Coach Jacob, and the entire NU coaching staff for this incredible opportunity. Most importantly, I want to thank God for guiding me every step of the way. Go ‘Cats!!”
Kusch does his club swimming with Streamline Aquatics Club and last competed at the EEX Holiday Classic where he clocked four best times. He also competed at Juniors East and the Toyota U.S. Open.
Last summer, he earned silver in the 200m breast and bronze in both the 100m breast and 100m fly at Eastern Zone Seniors. That was after he finaled in the 100m breast at Speedo Summer Championships.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 55.10
- 200 breast – 2:01.47
- 200 IM – 1:50.89
- 100 fly – 48.87
Currently a junior at Immaculata High School, Kusch took third in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 IM at the 2024 New Jersey Meet of Champions during his sophomore season.
