U.S. Open Qualifier Anna Peplowski Verbals to Indiana; Will Join Sister for 2021-22 Season
NEW COMMIT: The Hoosiers have landed another verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season, this time from Germantown Hills, Ill. native Anna Peplowski. She’ll join Mariah Denigan at Indiana as a member of the class of 2025 and will have one year of overlap with her sister, Noelle Peplowski, who is currently a sophomore freestyler for the Hoosiers.
A six-time Summer Juniors qualifier, Peplowski swims year-round with Waves Bloomington/Normal Y Swim Team. She placed 13th in the 50m free and 23rd in the 100m back this past summer at Junior Nationals after earning gold in the 200m back and two silvers at Illinois LCM Seniors. Last winter, she raced four events at Juniors West before going on to register five top-6 finishes at Illinois SCY Seniors. A current junior at Metamora High School, Peoplowski has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.
She told Swimming World:
“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Indiana University!! Beyond thankful for my family, my teammates, my friends, @coachyourd and all coaches who helped get me to this point. Go Hoosiers!!! #HoosierNation”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 22.86
- 100 free – 50.13
- 200 free – 1:48.91
- 100 back – 55.43
- 200 back – 1:57.86
Peplowski will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she arrives in Bloomington as a member of the class of 2025. Her best time in the 50 free is already fast enough to score in the B-final at the Big Ten Championships while her 100 free and 200 back would’ve scored in the C-final at last year’s conference meet where Indiana won their sixth conference title in program history.
