The men’s 200 free will feature Luke Hobson as the top seed and favorite after he won bronze in the event at this February’s World Championships and then swam the fastest time ever in the 200-yard free at the NCAA Championships. But the three circle-seeded heats will feature plenty of strong contenders to qualify for the 800 free relay, including Drew Kibler alongside Hobson and Kieran Smith and Jake Mitchell one heat earlier.

Carson Foster remains entered in the 200 free, but don’t be surprised if he skips the event to focus on the 400 IM, where he is the top seed and favorite after winning silver at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships. Foster will swim next to two-time Olympian and 2021 silver medalist Jay Litherland in the final heat while defending Olympic gold medalist Chase Kalisz is in the middle of the pool with David Johnston in the prior heat.

Lilly King makes her Trials debut int he women’s 100 breast, swimming in the final heat after defending Olympic gold medalist Lydia Jacoby is in the previous heat. Alex Walsh will also swim for the first time at this Trials, next to King in the final heat.

Ryan Murphy and Hunter Armstrong each swim in lane for in their respective 100 back heats, with Murphy racing next to Cal teammate Destin Lasco, a member of last year’s Worlds team.

Fresh off qualifying for her fourth Olympic team in the women’s 400 free, Katie Ledecky is the top seed in the 200 free, with Erin GemmellAnna Peplowski and Katie Grimes the big names joining her in the final heat. Claire Weinstein and Bella Sims each occupy lane four for their respective prelim heats, and both will be looking to rebound after rough performances in the 400 free where they did not make the final. Paige Madden will be next to Weinstein after she qualified for her second Olympic team in the 400 free while Simone Manuel swims for the first time in Indianapolis next to Sims.
