TYR Pro Swim Series: Emma Weyant, Jay Litherland, Paige Madden Win on Day 3 With Pash, Stadden

The TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Irvine, California, continued with several of the top swimmers in the country putting together strong performances.

Friday’s final session started with a dominating performance from Emma Weyant. After getting disqualified during U.S. Nationals and missing a chance for a spot on the World Championship team, Weyant threw down a 4:37.76 in the 400 IM to claim the first victory of the night, holding off the field by four seconds.

In the men’s 400 IM, it was a dominating performance by Jay Litherland. The Olympic medalist also narrowly missed a shot at the Worlds team. He won the event in 4:11.74, five seconds ahead of Landon Driggers (4:16.54) and the rest of the field.

The Texas women have been extremely strong in the butterfly events of late, and that continued on Friday with a 1-3-5 finish sandwiched around a couple of Aussies in the meet.

Kelly Pash won the 100 butterfly in 57.85, just a hundredth of a second ahead of Australia’s Lily Price, while Emma Sticklen was third in 58.17 and Dakota Luther was fifth in 58.24.

Wolfpack Elite’s Aiden Hayes claimed victory in the men’s 100 butterfly, getting to the wall in 51.24. Australia’s Jesse Coleman was second (51.66), followed by Jonathan Kulow (52.35), Finn Brooks (52.35), who tied for third, ahead of Trenton Julian (52.49) and Santo Condorelli (52.55).

Paige Madden won her third event of the meet. The Olympian from Virginia won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.41, finishing ahead of a strong group. Justina Kozan was second (1:58.92), followed by Gabby DeLoof (1:59.51), Aurora Roghair (1:59.70) and Simone Manuel (1:59.71).

Australia’s Maximillian Giuliani won the men’s 200 freestyle in 1:46.23, holding off Grant House by a half second. Olympian Brooks Curry was third (1:46.81), ahead of Luca Urlando (1:46.99) and Coby Carrozza (1:47.07).

Mikayla Smith made it two in a row for the Aussies with a win in the 100 breaststroke. She got to the wall in 1:08.02, 15 hundredths of a second ahead of Trojan Swim Club’s Isabelle Odgers (1:08.17).

In the men’s 100 breaststroke at the TYR Pro Swim Series, Jake Foster claimed victory in 59.64, ahead of Elite Coronado’s Nick Mahabir (59.96). Charlie Swanson and Joshua Yong tied for third at 1:00.09.

It was a strong 100 backstroke with Isabelle Stadden winning in 59.83, followed by Catie DeLoof (1:00.44) and Phoebe Bacon (1:00.48).

In the men’s 100 backstroke, Jack Aikins won in 53.83, ahead of Bradley Dunham (54.63).
