NEW TRANSFER: After spending her freshman year at Northern Arizona University, Lainie Bell of Atlanta, Ga. has announced her decision to transfer to Eastern Michigan.

She told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to Eastern Michigan University. I am looking forward to training with Coach Derek Perkins this fall!”

Bell had a standout freshman year at NAU, helping them earn their seventh-straight team title at the 2020 WAC Championships where she earned gold in both the 100 back and 200 back. During the dual meet season, she registered five top-3 finishes for the Lumberjacks.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.18
  • 100 back – 54.75
  • 200 back – 1:56.94

Bell did her club swimming with Swim Atlanta where she was a Winter Juniors qualifier and graduated from Druid Hills High School in 2019. Her twin brother, Liam Bell, has also entered the NCAA transfer portal after spending one season at Alabama.
