Two-Time South Carolina 4A State Champion Hayley Mason Verbals to In-State Gamecocks
NEW COMMIT: The University of South Carolina has scored a new in-state verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Columbia, S.C. native Hayley Mason.
No stranger to South Carolina’s program, Mason swims year-round with Carolina Aquatics and is a talented freestyler and IMer. She placed seventh in the 200 free at Greensboro Sectionals in March after winning the 200 back at the South Carolina SCY Championships in February.
Also competing for Dreher High School, Mason is a six-time South Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. She was the 200/500 free runner-up as a junior after winning both of those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am humbled and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of South Carolina. None of this would be possible without God and the constant support of my coaches, teammates, and family. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! Spurs up!”
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:50.59
- 500 free – 5:00.26
- 1000 free – 10:19.71
- 1650 free – 17:19.29
- 200 back – 2:02.14
- 200 IM – 2:06.89
- 400 IM – 4:28.79
The Gamecocks have been on top of their recruiting game for next fall, snagging four other in-state recruits in Aubrey Chandler, Emma Sullivan, Gabi Reed and Riley Parker who will join Mason in 2020, in addition to Bella Pantano, Olivia McPherson, Megan Armstrong, Meredith Berglund and Kaitlyn Porter.
