Two-Time SCHSL 5A State Champion Emily Horomanski Sends Verbal to South Carolina
NEW COMMIT: The University of South Carolina has picked up a verbal commitment from in-state swimmer Emily Horomanski who intends to join the Gamecocks in the fall of 2019.
Horomanski is a two-time Junior National qualifier and does her club swimming with Greater Spartanburg YMCA. At Juniors this summer, she recorded a personal best in the 200m IM (2:23.29) and won both the 100m fly (1:03.60) and 200m fly (2:16.79) at the SC LCM Championships. She finished fourth in the 200 fly (2:00.24) at YMCA Nationals in April and is a seven-time finalist at the SC SCY Championships.
Also representing Riverside High School, she won the 100 fly (57.23) and was the 200 free (1:52.49) runner-up at the SCHSL 5A State Championships during her junior season. As a sophomore, she helped her team win the state title after claiming the individual 200 free title (1:53.59) and placing third in the 100 fly (56.98).
She told Swimming World:
“I am so proud to announce my commitment to the University of South Carolina! I am absolutely in love with the team, coaches, and campus. I am so excited to call it my home for the next four years of my swimming and academic career. I want to thank all the coaches, friends, and family that have supported me through this journey. I can’t wait to be a part of the Gamecock family. #spursup”
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 54.70
- 200 fly – 2:00.24
- 200 IM – 2:03.11
- 400 IM – 4:27.48
- 200 free – 1:50.90
Horomanski will provide more depth to the Gamecocks’ fly group when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. Her best 100 and 200 fly times would’ve been just outside scoring range at the 2018 SEC Championships and she’ll join a training squad that includes top returning butterfliers Christina Lappin and Emma Otten.
