Two-Time Olympic Champion James Guy To Leave Bath National Centre After Seven Years
Two-time Olympic champion James Guy is to leave Bath National Centre and the watchful eye of Dave McNulty for unnamed pastures new with Paris 2024 on the horizon.
The 27-year-old has spent seven years in the south-west of England, firstly a three-year stint with Jol Finck followed by four years with McNulty where he’s trained alongside the likes of Olympic 200 free champion Tom Dean.
During this time he’s won five Olympic relay medals across two Games including golds in the men’s 4x200m freestyle and mixed medley relay at Tokyo 2020.
There’s also been three world titles among eight medals, seven European titles and 11 trips to the Commonwealth podium.
However, Guy is now seeking a “change of stimulus for Paris 2024” with the Games starting in the French capital at the end of July next year, 10 months hence.
He added:
“This wasn’t an easy choice at all but I’m excited for something new heading into coming year as a senior athlete.”
Where Guy will go is unclear although there may be a return to his northern roots in Lancashire, north-west England.
