The 2021 Texas 5A and 6A Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships took place on February 26-27 at the Bill Walker Pool and Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas.
Conroe The Woodlands clinched the 6A state crown by two points ahead of defending champion Humble Kingwood. The Highlanders set a state and 6A record in the 4×50 medley relay as Tyler Hulet (21.80), Roberto Bonilla Flores (25.47), Cotton Fields (22.08), and Aidan Flanagan (20.73) won in 1:30.08 to lower the old mark of 1:30.73 set by Comal Smithson Valley in 2019.
Cypress Woods also had a state and 6A record relay performance: Benjamin Scholl (20.44), Munzy Kabbara (220.69), Clay Crawford (20.58), and Luke DiMiceli (20.38) won in 1:22.09 to break the old 2016 standard of 1:22.54 from Katy Cinco Ranch.
The 5A state meet saw three class records go down, all from Georgetown. Their 4×50 medley relay team of Jeremy Kelly (22.76), Landon Alarcon (26.50), Danny Pinerio (22.17), and Corby Furrer (20.36) won in 1:31.79 while Kelly (45.47), Alarcon (47.73), Pinero (46.44), and Furrer (44.63) teamed up again in the 4×100 free relay in 3:04.27.
Kelly, who is only a freshman, was also under the old 5A standard in the 200 IM.
