Tulane Reels In First Class of 2026 Verbal from Turkish National Teamer Olcaytu Hatipoglu
NEW COMMIT: Tulane University has scored their first early verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Istanbul, Turkey native Olcaytu Hatipoglu.
She told Swimming World:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Tulane University. I am so excited to be a part of this amazing team and study engineering at Tulane. I am so grateful for my family, my coaches, and my friends who supported me during this process.”
Hatipoglu, who is a member of the Turkish National Team, placed fourth in the 50m fly and sixth in the 100m fly at the Turkish National Team Selection meet in December 2019. The week prior, she earned 100% best times at the Turkish SCM Junior Championships where her highest finish was an 11th-place showing in both the 50m free and 50m fly.
She trains with the Uskudar American Academy Swim Team.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 50m free – 27.18
- 100m free – 59.59
- 50m fly – 27.82
- 100m fly – 1:03.22
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 50 free – 23.75
- 100 free – 52.85
- 50 fly – 24.50
- 100 fly – 55.32
Hatipoglu will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus as a member of the Green Wave’s Class of 2026. With her times converted to yards, she would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly at last year’s conference meet and she would’ve ranked No. 2 on their roster in that event.
Under head coach Leah Stancil, Tulane finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships.
