NEW COMMIT: Tulane University has earned their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Atlanta, Ga. native and current high school junior Riley Hendrix.
Primarily a backstroker, Hendrix swims year-round with Dynamo Swim Club and owns a pair of Winter Junior standards. She recently placed fifth in the 100 back at the Southern Premier Invitational after earning bronze in that event at Georgia SCY Seniors. This past summer, she recorded four best times at Cary Futures where her highest finish was an eighth-place showing in the 100m back.
Also competing for Saint Pius X Catholic High School, Hendrix is a six-time Georgia 1-5A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 back and took fifth in the 50 free as a junior after placing third in the former event as well as ninth in the 100 fly during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Tulane University! I would like to thank my Dynamo teammates and coaches as well as my family for their endless support and guidance. Tulane University offers such a great balance between strong athletics as well as academics, I can’t wait to spend the next four years on such a beautiful campus! Roll wave!”
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 26.57
- 100 back – 55.70
- 200 back – 2:00.54
- 50 free – 24.55
- 100 free – 52.86
Hendrix will add valuable backstroke depth when she suits up for the Green Wave as a member of the class of 2024. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both backstroke events at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships where Tulane finished fourth overall in the team standings.
