NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Brian Uribe of West New York, N.J. has announced his verbal commitment to continue his academic and swimming career at Tufts University as a member of the Jumbos’ Class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I am BEYOND excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic careers at Tufts University! Thank you so much to my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me along the way to make this possible. I can’t wait to be part of the Jumbo family! #rollbos !!”

Uribe does his club swimming with Scarlet Aquatics and most recently earned silver in both the 100m back and 400m IM as well as bronze in the 200m back and 200m IM at New Jersey Seniors in February. He also placed 15th in the 200m back at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville in January.

Last summer, he won the 100m back and 400m IM at the New Jersey LCM Junior Olympics before going on to earn a best time in the 200m back at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 24.57
  • 100 back – 51.08
  • 200 back – 1:52.95
  • 200 IM – 1:53.11
  • 400 IM – 4:00.88

Uribe has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in his career thus far for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Uribe will make an immediate impact when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 IM/400 IM, B-final of the 100/200 back, and C-final of the 50 back at the 2020 NESCAC Championships where Tufts was the team runners-up.
