TROY DUMAIS WINS SECOND TITLE IN THREE METER SPRINGBOARD
Troy Dumais, champion in the one meter yesterday, took his second title in the three meter springboard. Dumais, a sophomore at Texas, blew away the field with 662.65 points.
"I missed the third round dive but I found it in myself to battle back the last few dives," said Dumais. "The thing I'm most proud of is that I was able to contribute to the team — our goal is to win this national championship and we're on our way there."
Miami (Florida) had four of the top eight scorers: sophomores Stefan Ahrens and Imre Lengyel were second and third, respectively, with 624.05 and 614.50 points; senior Tyce Routson was fifth with 593.00 and freshman Kyle Prandi was sixth with 591.80.
Tennessee junior Roy Shannon, who was second in the one meter, finished fourth in the three meter with 612.60. Tennessee junior Gabi Chereches was seventh in 585.75 and Kentucky freshman Clayton Moss was eighth in 573.60.
