Texas sophomore Troy Dumais won the one meter springboard with 605.20 points, ahead of Tennessee junior Roy Shannon at 570.95.
Miami (Florida) sophomores Imre Lengyel and Stefan Ahrens were third and fourth, respectively, with 565.40 and 560.20. Minnesota junior Dan Croaston was fifth with 556.45, Georgia junior Jud Campbell was sixth with 551.00, Miami senior Tyce Routson was seventh (543.15) and Texas senior John Eisler was eighth with 533.35.
Texas senior John Eisler finished eighth, so the Longhorns picked up 31 points to none for Auburn.
