Towson Lands a Pair of Verbals: Suzannah Mills and Brooke Bollinger
NEW COMMITS: Suzannah Mills and Brooke Bollinger have verbally committed to swim for Towson University beginning with the 2018-2019 season. Each swimmer bring a different stroke focus to the Tigers, but should fit in nicely with existing training groups.
Suzannah Mills
“I chose Towson University because I loved the team, the campus, and it didn’t take long for me to feel at home. I can’t wait to be a tiger!”
Mills heads to Towson from nearby Laurel, Maryland. She swims for Rockville Montgomery Swim Club. Primarily a backstroker, her best times include:
- 50 Back 29.06
- 100 Back 58.53
- 200 Back 2:05.04
- 500 Free 5:01.00
- 200 Free 1:53.91
Towson has upperclasswomen at the top of last year’s backstroke group. Still on the roster when Mills arrives will be Haley Sutton, Maddi Mangum, and Meghan Jones. It took just under five minutes to make the 500 fresetyle finals at last year’s CAA Championships. Mills is just shy of that mark, but can train with Ashley Illenye for one year and Jones for two. Both were B finalists last year.
Brooke Bollinger
Bollinger is from Reading, Pennsylvania and swims for Lancaster Aquatic Club. She’s a senior at Exeter Township High School. She excels the most at breaststroke. Her best times are:
- 100 Breast 1:04.88
- 200 Breast 2:22.53
- 50 Free 25.09
- 100 Free 54.11
Walking in the door, Bollinger’s best 100 breaststroke time already puts her in the B final. Towson had three swimmers there last year: freshmen Jacalyn Schoening (1:04.05) and Kalyn Fetter (1:05.17) and sophomore Amanda Rosa (1:03.84). Bollinger will have a strong training group and will likely be in contention for a medley relay spot.
