Townley Haas took down one the oldest American short-course records Sunday at the ISL Grand Final, going 1:40.49 in the 200 freestyle.
The swim takes down Ryan Lochte’s record of 1:41.08, set in Dubai on Dec. 15, 2010. It’s one of the oldest records on the books for the U.S.
Haas’ splits: 23.46, 25.54 (49.00), 25.83, 25.66 (51.49)
Haas, swimming for the Cali Condors, finished second in the race, .24 seconds behind the London Roar’s Duncan Scott. On Saturday, Haas had finished third in the 400 free at the International Swimming League Grand Final, helping position the Condors in the lead as they seek their first ISL crown. It’s Haas’s first American record, in either long-course or short-course.
