Tom Shields Cracks 1:50 for American Record in 200 Fly

USA’s Tom Shields clinched the team win for the U.S. with an American record in the men’s 200-meter fly at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.
Shields scorched the finale in 1:49.05 as he became just the seventh man under 1:50. His time broke the American record of 1:50.08 he set back in 2014.
Shields also moved to fourth all time in the event’s history behind Chad le Clos (1:48.56), Daiya Seto (1:48.92) and Laszlo Cseh (1:49.00).
Euro’s Viktor Bromer took second in 1:52.39 with USA’s Tyler Clary placed third in 1:54.74. Euro’s David Verraszto hit the wall fourth in 1:55.13.
