Three-Time Utah State Champion Emma Walker Verbally Commits to Kansas for 2020-21 Season
NEW COMMIT: Salt Lake City, Utah breaststroker Emma Walker has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Kansas as a member of the class of 2024.
Walker, who owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 breast, does her club swimming with Wasatch Front Fish Market and most recently placed eighth in both breaststroke events at Phoenix Speedo Sectionals. She raced three events at Juniors West in December and earned silver in the 200m breast and bronze in the 100m breast at the Utah LCM Championships this past summer.
Also competing for Cottonwood Senior High School, Walker is a six-time Utah State Championship finalist. She won the 100 breast and was the 200 IM runner-up as a junior at the 5A meet after finishing first and sixth, respectively, at the 4A Championships during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Kansas! I instantly fell in love with every part of KU and can’t want to join the KUSD family! Thank you to my friends and family for the support, as well as all the coaches who have helped me get here! Rock Chalk can’t wait to be a Jayhawk!!”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:03.48
- 200 breast – 2:17.67
- 200 IM – 2:06.45
Walker will add valuable breaststroke depth when she suits up for the Jayhawks in the fall of 2020. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 breast as well as the top-12 of the 100 breast at the 2019 Big 12 Championships where Kansas finished second overall in the team standings.
