Three-Time Mississippi State Champion Maddie Howell Verbals to Louisiana State
NEW COMMIT: Madison, Miss. native Maddie Howell has pledged her verbal commitment to Louisiana State University and will arrive in Baton Rouge in the fall of 2020.
Howell does her club swimming with Performance Elite Aquatics and most recently recorded a pair of best times at NCSAs. Last summer, she raced four events at Southern Zone Seniors where she finaled in three of them. Also competing for Madison Central High School, Howell is a six-time Mississippi State Championship finalist. She won the 50 free and 100 fly as a junior after placing first and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“The second that I stepped on campus, I felt like I was home. The coaches, the team, and the atmosphere made me feel like I could really succeed within the LSU program, and I could not be more excited to be a part of the family in Baton Rouge. Geaux Tigers!”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.62
- 100 free – 52.49
- 200 free – 1:54.86
- 100 fly – 57.64
Howell has continuously made improvements each season and will add valuable sprint depth to Louisiana State’s lineup next fall. She will join Sydney Roycraft, Jadyn Jannasch, Allison Tomsuden and Reagan Osborne as members of the Tigers’ class of 2024.
