Three-Time Minnesota Class A Gold Medalist Jack Herczeg Chooses Ohio State

NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler Jack Herczeg of Winona, Minn., has selected The Ohio State University for his college career and will suit up for the Buckeyes as a member of the class of 2024.
Herczeg swims year-round with Winona Swim Club and capped off his summer season by earning bronze in the 100m free en route to achieving 100% best times at Minnesota LCM Seniors. Also competing for Winona Senior High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a six-time Minnesota Class A State Championship finalist. He won the 50/100 free combo as a junior after placing third and first, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
He told Swimming World:
“Beyond ecstatic to announce my commitment to study and swim at The Ohio State University! Thanks to my parents, teammates and coaches for everything they do. As soon as I met the team and the coaching staff, I knew OSU was the place for me.”
His best times include (SCY/LCM)
- 50 free – 21.02/24.51
- 100 free – 45.38/52.99
- 200 free – 1:47.60/2:00.27
When he arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season, Herczeg will join a talented sprint group led by Sem Andreis and Josef Pohlmann. He has seen some pretty big time drops over the past two seasons, shaving off a second in the 50 free, five seconds in the 100 free, and 11 seconds in the 200 free.
