NEW COMMIT: Winter Park, Fla. native and current high school junior Luke Uttley has announced his verbal commitment to Notre Dame beginning in the fall of 2020.
Uttley does his club swimming with Trinity Prep Aquatics and owns the U.S. Open standard in the 100m free with three additional Summer Juniors cuts. He most recently competed at the Southern Premier Invitational where he had four top-12 finishes after placing seventh in the 100 free at Juniors East in December.
Also competing for Trinity Prep School, Uttley is a six-time Florida 1A State Championship finalist. He won the 100/200 free combo as a junior after placing first and fifth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season. Uttley has also earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts.
He told Swimming World:

Additional thanks to all the coaches that have helped me on the way, Coach Scott, Coach Anne Marie, Coach Dan, Coach John, Coach Jess, and Coach Meisel. I want to thank my parents for supporting me every day and always being my biggest fans. Additional thanks to Coach Mike and Coach Aaron for the opportunity to swim under them! I also want to thank the entire Trinity crew for pushing me everyday in practice. Thank you to everyone that has helped me reach this point. Go Irish!”

- 50 free – 20.48
- 100 free – 44.64
- 200 free – 1:37.86
- 100 fly – 49.21
When he suits up for the Fighting Irish as a member of the class of 2024, Uttley will add his talents to training groups that’ll include Brendan Santana, Marci Barta and Zachary Smith. Although he’s just outside of scoring range at the ACC Championships, Uttley has made significant improvements each season with just over a year to go before arriving at Notre Dame.
