Three National Age Group Records Set at the North Baltimore AC Christmas Meet
BALTIMORE, MD., Dec. 16. THREE new National Age Group marks were set at the 29th Annual NBAC Christmas Meet held at the Loyola College Aquatic Center December 13-15.
Twelve-year-old Joanna Thomas, of the Atlantic City Swim Club, broke the 11-12 NAG record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:02.64. Her split at the 1000 (10:13.76) was also a National record. Joanna also posted some superb times in the 200 free (1:54+) and 500 free (5:00.68).
The North Baltimore Aquatic Club's 13-14 girls 400 yard medley relay team set a new NAG record of 3:51.24. Ann Marie Botek (56.68 back), Kelly Peloquin(1:04.85 breast), Ashely Knapik( 56.41 fly) and Kristina Delp (53.30 fr) combined to set NBAC's 131st NAG record.
Michael Phelps swam won several events with outstanding times while in the midst of heavy training. In all, ten NBAC swimmers posted 26 individual Senior National qualifying times over the three day meet.
