Thomas Powers-Hammond Set To Join Louisville Cardinals In 2024

NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Thomas Powers-Hammond of Longmeadow, Mass.

He will join Gregg Enoch and Luke Whitlock in Louisville as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2028.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for making all of this possible. Go Cards!”

Powers-Hammond trains year-round with Bluefish Swim Club and placed fourth in the 100m free and eighth in the 200m free at Indianapolis Sectionals back in March after winning the 100 free at New England 15-18 Age Groups. Last summer, he posted six top-10 finishes at New England Seniors before going on to sprint to 17th in the 100m free at Geneva Futures.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.73
  • 100 free – 45.16
  • 200 free – 1:37.62
  • 500 free – 4:31.25
  • 100 fly – 49.34
  • 200 fly – 1:49.72

Powers-Hammond is a rising senior at Longmeadow High School.

Under head coach Arthur Albiero, the Cardinals finished third at the 2023 ACC Championships and 13th at the NCAA Championships.
