THE WOODLANDS, Texas, September 25. Ryan Sorensen, a breaststroker out of The Woodlands Swim Team in Texas, will be headed to Brigham Young University as part of the Class of 2015.
Sorensen, ranked 13th in the State of Texas by CollegeSwimming.com, is a developing breaststroke talent who had his best career swim this past February at the UIL Region 5A Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke. There, he turned in a time of 55.56 in the event to gain the attention of NCAA Division I scouts.
“The team and the coaches were amazing and the school is fantastic as well,” Sorensen posted on CollegeSwimming.com. “I cannot wait to get to Provo next fall! Go Cougars!”
Sorensen also has a 2:04.27 in the 200-yard breaststroke to his credit, but that’s from the 2012 Winter Junior Nationals, so he has this year to try to put in a time drop in the longer distance event.
Sorensen can also provide BYU with a 200-yard IM if called upon with a 1:55.57 in the event from this year’s sectionals.
