With the 1500-meter freestyle not part of the women’s program at the FINA World Cup stop in Indianapolis, a special head-to-head duel in the event was set up by the world governing body at the Indiana University Natatorium. The short-course time trial served as an opportunity for American Katie Grimes and France’s Alexa Reyna, who lives in the United States, to chase the world junior record in the 1500 freestyle. The Week That Was #4: Dylan Carter Reflects on World Cup Overall Title: ‘People Thought I Was Never Going to Break Through’
It took a special performance and a special amount of speed to accomplish something special for Trinidad and Tobago. Dylan Carter swept the 50s all three stops of the 2022 FINA World Cup to claim the overall championship on Saturday in Indianapolis.
Carter scored 172.6 points on the three stops, edging USA’s Nic Fink (172.3) for the title.
It was a huge moment for Carter in what he calls his “second career” as a 50 specialist. But an even more special moment for Trinidad and Tobago. Read More…

My mom always tells me, “Jealousy is an ugly emotion.” She is right. And in swimming, jealousy can reign supreme.
Then again, while ugly, jealousy is also natural. It is a justifiable emotion that everyone has at at least some point in his or her lives. However, it is not necessarily the emotion that gets people into trouble, but how they handle coping with the emotion that does.
Jealousy is predominant everywhere in swimming. Whether a teammate broke your record, someone beat you on your best set in practice, or someone took your relay spot away from you, swimmers always find themselves opportunities to become jealous. Jealousy even exists in the little things, like someone taking your favorite kickboard or a teammate ordering the new practice suit you wanted. Read More…
