The Morning Swim Show: Eric Shanteau Talks About Recovery Following Cancer Surgery; Mary Beck Discusses Decision to Swim at Cal-Berkeley in January
PHOENIX, Arizona, October 9. THURSDAY'S edition of The Morning Swim Show goes to Austin, Texas, for interviews with two of the most-discussed names in the sport in the United States.
First, Olympian Eric Shanteau talks about his recovery following surgery for testicular cancer and how he will continue to monitor any possible recurrences. He also says he's ready to continue to train for a spot on next year's world championship team, and talks about the chances of breaking the stranglehold Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte have on the IMs in the United States.
In the High School Thursdays segment, two-time Swimming World Magazine Female High School Swimmer of the Year Mary Beck talks about her decision to attend Cal-Berkeley in the fall instead of the University of Texas, where she had made a verbal agreement earlier this year. She also talks about the possibility of lowering her national record in the 200 IM further before she graduates high school in December.
